Tana Group.

Slide text: The site: Batam, the airport and the monument
- The first thing a visitor to Batam sees. The Permata Langit monument on the roundabout at Hang Nadim Airport, its lighting and a visual identity for the territory.
- Companies already working together in Batam. Among them developer Tana Group, which built the Tering Bay golf resort and the twenty-hectare AURUM district and has twenty-five years in construction, and Panon Mahia Nusa, an agency working since 2000 on 360° strategy, eighteen digital platforms and projects for Navapark, Kota Wisata and Greenwich Park.
- Batam has one recognizable silhouette: the Barelang Bridge. The bridge is on the city's coat of arms and is its only postcard. The rest of Batam looks like any growing city in Southeast Asia: the city is growing faster than its image is changing.
- The point everyone passes through. Hang Nadim Airport receives every investor, every partner from Singapore and every tourist. The roundabout in front of the terminal is already there, and today it says nothing about the city.
- Permata Langit, the sky gem. The architectural concept of the monument, developed within BP Batam.
- Parameters. 16.5 m high with a 90° twist. Two types of panels: white double-curved panels with Malay perforation on one side, mirror panels with a water texture on the other.
- What the form started from. A hand gesture, a cut gemstone, a trail in the sky and Malay ornament.
- The form combines three decisions. Gesture and facet: an open palm and a cut stone, hence the contrast of a smooth white surface and a mirror surface that breaks up the light. A ninety-degree twist, because the monument is seen from a moving car and shows one face on the way in and another on the way out. Malay identity: the waist widening toward the top refers to the tanjak headdress, and the perforation follows Malay ornament.
- A monument with a landscape composition at the center of the roundabout. The object stands on raised ground, with terraces rising from the highway and paths of natural materials running across them.
- Section. Mirror panels of recycled ABS plastic with smooth and water textures. White double-curved composite panels of fiberglass, bio-epoxy and polyester resins and recycled ABS, three times lighter than aluminum and four times stronger, cut to a Malay ornament pattern. Planting of species suited to the dry season, including Kacang Pinto, Lili Paris and creeping rosemary.
- Composite panels. CNC-cut panels in a Malay ornament pattern, and panels with a geometric relief built from ABS sheets with a mirror chrome finish.

Slide text: Level 1: light in the airport's language
- Three scenarios side by side. Tropical green, gold and Malay ornament, blue spirals.
- Level 1: light speaks the airport's language. The current architectural concept with three static lighting scenarios.
- In the Hang Nadim logo, three lines intersect. The new terminal is built on three meanings, and each is assigned to its own part of the building.
- Sky, land, nature. Island nature for the canopy; the land, people and culture of Batam for the main building; the sky for the terminal roof. The lines stand for harmony between sky, nature and people, and each gets its own lighting scenario.
- Scenario 01. Tropical green. A green glow with a foliage pattern flows down the white panels, and the lower tier lights the planting on the terraces. A mode for ordinary evenings and the city's environmental initiatives.
- Scenario 02. Gold and Malay ornament. Light from inside the perforated panels draws the pattern on the facade and casts it as shadow onto the terraces. The warm tone echoes the gold of the BP Batam logo. A mode for national holidays and official delegations.
- Scenario 03. Blue spirals. Thin blue lines rise in a spiral along the twist of the tower: a minimal pattern that reads clearly from the highway. The everyday base mode.
- The material gets a second life. Recycled ABS plastic from car parts and household appliances goes into the composite panels, the small forms on the terraces and the lighting housings.
- Rules that are not compromised. Materials and fixtures proven in sun, salt and humidity; recycled feedstock wherever it does not affect load-bearing capacity; demountable joints, so the monument is serviced part by part instead of replaced.
- Structure: cross-rod plate. A rod system carries the panels and serves as their mounting. Rods meet at nodes on a repeating grid, and every node can be taken apart.
- Materials and equipment. Composite panels, a cross-rod frame, scenario-based lighting control on a schedule, and five plant species selected for the dry season.

Slide text: Level 2: an identity for Batam, applied to the monument
- The Batam DNA scenario. The light retells the city: growth, movement and the link between the islands. The whole roundabout works as a light screen visible from the air, so the message reaches guests before their plane lands, while meeting airport-zone lighting requirements. Pattern, color and rhythm would come from the identity.
- Three levels of development. Level 1: light in the airport's language. Level 2: Batam's identity applied to this monument. Level 3: Batam's identity across the city, with a system of small architectural forms that includes the monument.
- Levels two and three are shown as a direction. Batam has no territorial identity yet, and lighting design for these levels waits until it exists.
- Level 2: Batam's identity on this object. Strategy, the city's visual language and its application to the lighting of the same form.
- The city has symbols. Star for faith, Malay kris for valor, five waves for work and the sea, Perahu Dendang for maritime valor, the Barelang Bridge for the link between the islands, a red ribbon for a new era, a chain of 45 links for unity.
- The BP Batam logo: eagle, gold, blue, square. The eagle for international standing and vigilance, gold for stability, blue for trust and maturity, the square for professionalism.
- The symbols work on documents; in the city they are invisible. They belong on letterheads and at ceremonies. With investors, tourists and young residents the city speaks differently, and strategy translates Batam's values into a language that reads today.
- What territorial identity is. The set of rules for how a city looks and speaks: the typeface on signs, the color of railings, the shape of a bus stop, festival decorations, the administration's website. Residents notice these rules when they are missing.
- When everything follows one logic, the city reads as a single place. Otherwise it looks like a collection of random decisions, even if each is fine on its own.
- Cities that have done it. Dubai Design District (D3), a free economic zone where bilingual wayfinding, art objects and street furniture turn a business quarter into a place to spend time. Porto, whose 2014 pictogram system is built from azulejos, the bridge, gulls and the tram. Eindhoven, which built its identity around light and technology.
- The work starts with strategy. No new visual style for Batam is shown yet, on purpose: a style invented before the strategy is decoration that cannot be defended at the first meeting.
- Development sequence. Strategy (which values the city conveys, to whom and why), a creative idea, a visual language, rules for the environment (small forms, wayfinding, lighting), and a mechanism for businesses to add to it.
Slide text: Level 3: one visual language across the city
- An environment built on the same rules. An example of small architectural forms and wayfinding in one style: a rest pavilion, a bus stop, a canopy, a monument inside a roundabout, a street signpost, a waiting area at a port.
- One visual language across all city objects
- Level 3: Batam's identity across the city. A system of small architectural forms for the city, with the airport monument as part of it.
- Object types. Street lights and poles, bus stops, wayfinding pylons, waterfront railings, flags and banners, benches and shelters, district entrance gateways, the ferry terminal.
- Every business adds to the city. A company that comes to Batam and reaches set targets earns the right to place a small architectural form. The form follows the city's rules and carries the features of the business.
- Benefits. For the city, an environment renewed without burdening the budget. For business, a physical presence instead of a billboard and a reason for local media coverage. For BP Batam, a tool for dialogue with free zone residents and a sign of the territory's maturity. Level three includes the program rules: object typology, participation tiers, approval procedure and a guide for businesses.
- Work sequence. Either monument lighting in the airport's style now, or the identity of the Batam free economic zone first, then its application to the monument, a series of urban objects and business integration.

Tana Group.
AURUM 24/7 Urban Hub, Tana Group
Slide text: The place and the developer
- AURUM. A light installation from sustainable materials, planned as the evening centerpiece of a new commercial district by the lake in Bengkong, Batam. An invitation for a brand partner, in partnership with Tana Group.
- AURUM 24/7 Urban Hub. An integrated district around an artificial lake with retail, restaurants, offices and events: 20 hectares in total, the 2-hectare AurumQua lake, open around the clock. The first 24/7 commercial hub of this format in Batam.
- Tana Group creates destinations. A Batam property developer that built Tering Bay Golf Course & Resort, with more than 25 years in construction, architecture and design and international teams of architects, artists and engineers.
- What's inside. The Aurum Dancing Fountain, the first in Batam; restaurants and a food court; boutique retail; a business center; a convention hall; nightlife.
- 40 minutes from Singapore. The site is in Sadai, Bengkong, near the Batam Centre ferry terminal and Hang Nadim Airport. Batam is an Indonesian free trade zone with tax incentives for international investors; its economy grew 6.7% in 2024–25. The audience is locals, business visitors and tourists from Singapore and Malaysia.
Slide text: The artwork: ARUMI and its night show
- Sustainable materials become an international symbol. Industrial waste and recycled plastic become an artwork photographed across the region, and the brand partner is what makes it possible.
- ARUMI, the dragon. Reflective scales of ABS plastic, semi-transparent wings and a silver head. The form and the light speak of energy, protection and life.
- Every evening ARUMI comes alive. Laser projection on smoke in a synchronized multimedia scenario, three to four shows every evening.
- Light objects in one scenario. The UrbanLight water fountain, the illuminated AURUM sign and Dragon Friends, five fire sculptures.
- 8 meters, calculated to the millimeter. A carbon steel frame with anti-corrosion coating, a reflective and semi-transparent casing of sustainable materials, a full LED and laser system, and a laser projection 25 meters long.
Slide text: The partnership, mobile version
- Material gets a second life. From waste to recycling to art to the city. The dragon's reflective scales are recycled ABS plastic that used to be automotive parts.
- ESG is no longer just a line in an annual report. A visible wow effect people photograph; the circular economy as part of brand culture; experience over advertising; and a landmark that holds attention longer than a season of ads.
- Made to be shared. Night shots, laser shows, drone footage, time-lapses and a documentary film.
- Brand partner: a global story. Visibility, impact, a global story and ESG activation.
- Four dimensions of impact. ESG and sustainability, with plastic returning as an urban symbol; PR and media with an international news angle; brand integration into the story, launch and landmark identity; audience engagement through photos and videos at AurumQua.
- The brand partner role. Naming rights and logo placement, a documentary film, international PR and award submissions, premium photo and video content, private events and the opening ceremony, a long-term landmark partnership.
- Project partners. A lighting and materials partner, marketing agency Panon Mahia Nusa and developer Tana Group.
