Tammanti Mebel makes frameless soft furniture — beanbag-style seating. Wave designed an exhibition stand for the brand: an asymmetric structure with soft, rounded corners, made of chipboard — a material that looks democratic and, when well finished, signals the brand’s accessible, fun character without being cheap to execute. The brand’s products come in lively colors and unusual prints, and the stand’s odd, non-standard shape and coloring both held the furniture — several beanbags raised above one another on different levels — and created a striking, geometric, structural composition visible from far off in a busy mall. The ‘anti-furniture’ concept built into the brand was carried through the form of the stand itself. It was also designed as a construct that’s easy to assemble: because the brand appears in different cities at different distances, Wave shipped the stand flat-packed and had it assembled on site, thinking through not just the form but a structure that takes apart, reassembles and travels cheaply.
